World’s First Storage Solution Designed for Fixed Content
EMC Centera, the world's first Content Addressed Storage (CAS) solution, is a purpose-built hardware and software combination optimized for retention, protection, and distribution of fixed content. Centera provides fast, easy online access and petabyte scalability for a wide range of digital assets. These include electronic business documents, e-mail archives, X-rays, and MRIs, and completed CAD/CAM designs. It provides online access to fixed content, while preserving the authenticity of data like optical at a TCO better than tape archives.
A single administrator can handle up to 250 TB of stored content. And Centera is designed to work a variety of third-party applications offered by EMC's Centera Partners or with a customer’s custom application. As an integrated hardware and software system, Centera supports Windows NT, UNIX, and z/OS mainframe platforms.

Designed to meet the archiving needs of mid-size enterprise customers, the EMC Centera four-node configuration offers a more affordable entry point for Centera archiving and the flexibility of installation in non-Centera racks. With up to 2.2 TB of usable capacity, the Centera four-node configuration delivers industry leading archiving features including: self-management, self-configuration, and single instancing that can deliver disk space savings of up to 90 percent. The four-node configuration can be ordered with all additional software available from Centera including Universal Access, Governance, Compliance, and Replication.
